My heart is full, seeing him enjoy the catio so much. But until that bowl hits the ground, he’s not coming in. The window onto the catio is right beside the kitchen, so when we’re dishing out food, he will pop his head in to see if his bowl is down on the floor yet. He doesn’t even come in at mealtimes until the last possible second. He asks me to open it first thing in the morning, and he will stay out there all day. He is out ALL the time now, spending the majority of his time on the catio. If I had known how much a catio would affect Raddy, we would have built one long ago. Then we built the catio back in May, and Raddy’s life changed drastically. But he often secluded himself to our bedroom. He loves the other cats, and he loves snuggling with me, so I’d never say he was lonely. Up until a couple months ago, Raddy lived a pretty quiet life. Because of his questionable past (the rescue said he came from a not-very-good situation), he has always been very skittish, especially with men. Today is the anniversary of the day Raddy joined our family 3 years ago, which of course means we are celebrating his “birthday” today!
